Spirit of God descend upon my heart. Wean it from evil thoughts all its pulses move; Stoop to my weaknesses mighty as thou art, and make me love thee as I ought to love. I ask no dream, no prophet ecstasies, no sudden rending of the veil of clay, no angel visitant, no opening skies, but take the dimness of my soul away. ~George Crowly

Prayer of Jabez - O, God, that you would bless me and expand my territory, please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all troubles and pain. ~Chronicles 4 v 9-10

I have told these things to you so that in me you will find peace. In the world you will find tribulations, but take heart, I have overcome the world. ~John 16 v 33

A life that's good

A Life That's Good

Sittin'  here tonight.
By the fire light.
It reminds  me I already have more than I should.

I don't need fame, no one to know my name.
At the end of the day,
Lord I pray: I have a life that's good.

Two arms around me, heaven to ground me.
And a family that always calls me home.

Four wheels to get there, enough love to share
A sweet sweet sweet song.

At the end of the day
Lord I pray
I have a life that's good

Sometimes I am hard on me
When dreams don't come easy
I wanna look back and say
I did all that I could

Yeah, at the end of the day
Lord I pray
I have a life that's good

Two arms around me, heaven to ground me
And a family that always calls me home

Four wheels to get there, enough love to share
and a sweet sweet sweet song

At the end of the day, Lord I pray
I have a life that's good
At the end of the day, Lord I pray
I have a life that's good

She let go

She Let Go

She let go. Without a thought or a word, she let go

She let go of fear.

She let go of the judgements.

She let go of the confluence of opinions swarming around her head.

She let go of the committee of indecision within her.

She let go of the the 'right' reasons.

Wholly and completely. without hesitation or worry, she just let go.

She didn't ask anyone for advise.

She didn't read a book on how to let go.

She didn't search the scriptures.

She just let go.

She let go of all the memories that held her back.

She let go of all the anxiety that kept her from moving forward.

She let go of the planning and all the calculations about how to do it just right.

She didn't promise to let go.

She didn't journal about it.

She didn't write the projected date in her Day-Timer.

She made no public announcement and put no ad in the paper.

She didn't check the weather report or read her daily horoscope.

She just let go.

She didn't call her friends to discuss the matter

She didn't dp a five-step Spiritual Mind Treatment.

She didn't call the prayer line.

She didn't utter one word

She just let go.

No one was around when it happened

There was no applause or congratulations.

No one thanked her or praised her

No one noticed a thing

Like a leaf fallen from a tree, she just let go.

There ws no effort

There was no struggle

It wasn't good and it wasn't bad.

It wasn't what it was, and is just that.

In the space of letting go, she let it all be.

A small smile came over her face.

A light breeze blew through her. And the sun and the moon shone forevermore.

CLOTHS OF HEAVEN

Had I the heavens’s  embroidered cloth, enwrought with golden and silver light, the blue and  the dim and dark cloth, of night and light and the half light, I would spread the cloth under your feet. But, I, being poor, have only my dreams, I have spread my dreams under your feet; tread softly, because you tread on my dreams.
~William Butler Yeats

Isaiah 40 v 25 - 41; 41 v 9-10

To whom then will you liken Me,  or to whom shall I be equal? Says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see who created all these things. Who brings out their host by number. He calls them all by their name, By the greatness of His might and the strength of His power. Not one is missing.
Why do you say O Jacob, one speak O Isreal; My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by God? Have you not known?  Have you not heard? The everlasting  God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of earth, neither faint or is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power too the weak, and to thousand to those who have no might, He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and go weary.

And the young shall utterly fall. But  to those who wait on the Lord, shall recover their strangth. They shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint

Romans 11 v 16 - 24

(Broken Branches)

For it is the first fruit is holy, the lump is also holy; ; and  the root is holy, so are the branches. And some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and the fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.

You will say then, Branches were broken off that I be grafted in, Well said, Because, of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear: for it is faith for if God did not spare the natur.

al branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you will be cut off. And they also , if they do not Continue in unbelief, will be grafted again. For if you were cut off from the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were  grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree.

Genesis 12 v1-3

Now the Lord said unto Abram: Get out of your country
From your family
And from your father (and mother’s ) house
To a land that I will show you
I will make you a great nation;
I will bless you
And make your name great
And you shall be a blessing
I will bless those who bless you
And I will curse him/her who curses you
And to you all the families of the
Earth shall be blessed.

We have no reason to harbor any mistrust against our world, for it is
not against us. If it has terrors, they are our terrors.  If it has abysses, these
abysses belong to us. If there are dangers, we must try to love them, and
only if we could arrange our lives in accordance with the principle that tells
us that we must always trust the difficult, then what now appears to us to
be alien will become our most intimate and trusted experience.

How could we forget those ancient myths that stand at the beginning of all
races: the myths about dragons that at the last moment are
transformed into princesses. Perhaps all the dragons in our lives are only
princesses waiting for us to act, just once, with beauty and courage.
Perhaps everything that frighten us is, in its deepest essence, something
helpless that wants our love.

So you must not be frightened is a sadness rises before you larger
than any you've ever seen, if an anxiety like light and cloud shadows moves
over your hands and everything that you do. You must realize that
something has happened to you. Life has not forgotten you, that it holds you
in its hands and will not let you fall. Why do you want to shut out of
your life any uneasiness, any miseries, or any depressions? For after all
you do not know what work these conditions are doing inside you.

~Ranier Maria Rilke

Wild Geese

Wild Geese

You do not have to be good
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert, repenting
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves
Tell you about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes
the mountains and the rivers
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air
are headed home again
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

~from Collected Poems by Mary Oliver

Love After Love

Love After Love

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror
and each will smile at the other's welcome

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was
yourself. Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to it self, to stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you have ignored
for another, who knows you by heart
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the despaired notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit.  Feast on your life

~Derek Walcott

The Guest House

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house
Every morning a new arrival

A joy, a depression, a meanness
some momentary awareness comes
as a unexpected visitor

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even is they're crowd of sorrows
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture

Still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you
out for some new delight

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

~Say I Am You poems of Ruminator
